Hilltop to Hilltop

We flew from Stansted to Naples this morning, rented a car, and headed into the hills, quite literally. Our first stop was in Colli a Volturno, one of the medieval villages that still perch on the hilltops in this beautiful part of the world. In the center of town, there is a little plaza dominated by the local church, Chiesa di Saint Leonard, where high up on the wall is a small labyrinth that dates from the medieval period.

The inside of the church was an interesting blend of medieval and modern, possible reflecting the hard life that villages in this are have had over the centuries. I don’t know anything about St. Leonard, but I’m intrigued by the name, and will find out more in due course.
We took time to stroll through the steep village streets, but then needed to press on to our next destination. We found we weren’t the only walkers en route:
I have so much more to share and I can’t wait to tell you about where we are now, but that will have to wait for another day.
