Kim’s Critters

Tree of Gratitude
Tree of Gratitude

When I turned 60 earlier this year, I looked for meaningful ways to mark the occasion. I wanted to leave a legacy that would reflect my humanity, my heart, and my humour. At the time, I created a tree of hearts to express my gratitude for my life and wanted to find ways of sending the individual hearts as blessings into the world.

HeartSix months on, I have started creating little critters — bears, bunnies and the like — and have decided to insert one tiny crocheted heart into each of one in hopes that its mere presence will somehow carry my blessings into the life of the recipient. I am fascinated by doll-making, and this craft is one I have longed to indulge in. Enjoy!

  1. I am completely and utterly in love with each one of these critters! I want to cuddle up with them all and hear their stories…

  2. I love each and every one but give Wonky Bear a hug and a kiss from Kelly & I (he holds a special place in our hearts!).

  3. LOVE them! I LOVE the butterfly rattle! Where did you get the pattern? I’d love to make one for my new little grandson! Of course, the backlog of my projects is growing larger and larger these days!

    1. I got the pattern from Ravelry… I can send you the link if you want it. It was a fun little project — I just love watching as a bit of wool and stuffing picks up a bit of attitude and turns into something with real personality. Magic!
