It is, in a word, cold. Lots of sleet today. We drove down to the seafront on our way home from somewhere else this morning, but decided that watching the birds and tides from the relative comfort of the car was far more enticing than getting out and braving the wind. Our earlier walk along Leigh Broadway turned out to be as good as it got today!
Today is the start of National Haiku Writing Month, an invitation to write a haiku every day of February. In my early morning writing, as well as my walking, the wind seemed to be the predominant feature today.
Winter’s icy blast
arrives in inky darkness,
roof slates rattle.
Just reading your words
icy chills race down my spine.
My warm bed calls me!
