After a damp but glorious drive along the River Tweed, we arrived in Glasgow and headed straight for the amazing Kelvingrove Museum.
What an eclectic mix of interesting displays, from paintings by the old masters to ancient mummies to artefacts from prehistoric Scotland, and even an old Spitfire soaring overhead. I was deeply moved by the assortment and the stories that wove it all together.
Perhaps most exciting were the displays that shed light on the places we’ll be visiting over the next several days and weeks, from Kilmartin to Iona to The Hebrides and the Orkneys.
And who can resist an impressive Knight in shining armour…
