Roosting boxes like these provide temporary shelter to birds passing through our gardens, giving them a place to spend the night, away from predators and inclement weather. Never intended to be used for nesting or raising hatchlings, these safe havens attract blue tits, wrens, robins, and goldcrests here in our corner of the world. While we all enjoy seeing old Br’er Fox out for his evening stroll, it’s nice to know that people in our neighbourhood care enough to give the birds a chance to place to keep safely out of his clutches!
